Nominated and runner-up for the sustainable development award for my master thesis "Facilitating communication concerning resource efficiency using the concept primary resource factor".
The award was issued by Miljöbron in collaboration with Camino at the Environment and Technology fair at Svenska Mässan in Gothenburg, in October 2008.

Authors: Marie NicanderThe thesis report investigates the possibilities of facilitating communication concerning complicated technical relations and concepts related to the use of natural resources in energy consumption. The thesis is commissioned by the Gothenburg based energy company Göteborg Energi. The relation between use of natural resources and end-use energy is a concern for the company since there is a common misunderstanding that a small amount of end-use energy is better for the environment regardless of where the energy comes from. The company wants to firmly implement the concept primary resource factor, PRF, in the company, since it takes into consideration the complete energy production process, which is necessary for a fair comparison of different energy supply systems. The thesis work resulted in a pamphlet with educational material about PRF aimed at the personnel at Göteborg Energi and recommendations to the company regarding how it should communicate the concept primary resource factor both to its own staff and to customers.
